Christmas Gift card Holders

I have another one of my Christmas posts. I wanted to show you these two Gift card holders because although mine are Christmas oriented you can cut this same cut for any occasion. It was cut using the Cricut CTMH Artiste cartridge for all cuts.
The gift holder is on  pg 56. I cut it at 4 3/4". Then I cut it again with a B&T paper from a retired Christmas paper I had and cut it apart layering it on the front and back and inside portions.
To decorate the front I used an image from the CTMH Oct SOTM. The ornament shape was cut from pg 79 at 3". I stamped the image on the cut with Olive ink and then applied Prism glitter. I don't know if it shows up in the picture but it turned out really sparkly. I used the CTMH stamp set called "Christmas Joy" for the sentiment on the front.
I cut a rectangle for the inside to add the inside message from the CTMH stamp "Merry & Bright"
This one was for my Nephew.

This is the other one I made using the same image just different papers and decorative image. The mittens are from the same Oct SOTM stamp that corresponds to the Artiste cartridge. The mittens were cut at 2.5" and stamped in Tulip ink and the tops in Juniper ink.
This one  was for my Niece.

Christmas Treats

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Now that it is over and all the rushing is done I hope to get back to posting more often and showing you all new projects and techniques along the way.

I wanted to show you a couple of projects I had made for my Christmas that I didn't get posted before Christmas. If you are still in the mode than you can make these for next year or just take a look.

The picture is of one of my table favors .Aren't they cute little snowmen? I scrap lifted this from the Internet. If I can find my notes and I have the site I will come back and post it. My room is still in chaos mode and until I get everything back I don't have my specific info handy. But quickly how these go together is like this. I took either a roll of life savors or 5 Rolo's  as my inside so they would stand. I took a piece of White CS approx. 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". It will vary depending on what you use on the inside. My Rolo ones were a bit shorter than the Life savors. I took out one of my old CTMH stamp sets called "All Decked Out" and stamped with Heavenly Blue along the bottom with a snow swirl stamp. Then I used the face and the buttons and stamped them in Black. I used CTMH colored pencils and the water brush to color in the nose with Orange. To make the hat I bought some red glove mittens and cut off the thumb and fingers. Once you have a finger cut off take it and roll up the bottom a little to give it a rim. Then to finish off the hat attach a Glitter pom pom hot glued to the top of the hat. The last thing was to add a scarf. I took a variety of ribbons and tied them around. This picture was taken before I added the name tags. But I made very small tags and had each persons name on each of the snowmen for the table.
PS To get the hat on easily I took the snowman and held it against me and then pulled it right over the top.

The second project was also scrap lifted from one I had seen on the web. I changed it a bit to use the supplies I owned. I cut it using the Artiste Cricut cartridge. It is a Chocolate treat holder.
The cut for the holder is from pg 60 . It is a cut for a mini album but I made it into this treat holder. I used Cranberry CS for the base cut at 2 1/4".
To decorate the front I used an old pack of CTMH paper called Mistletoe and cut a piece 2.25" to add to the front.
Then I cut with white CS from the same pg 60 the Lacey frame at 2.25".
The last 2 cuts again from pg 60 were cut once in cranberry CS at 1.5" and once in white CS at 1.38".

I stamped with Cranberry ink "JOY" on the white piece.
Then I layered these and pop dotted them on top of the frame.
Lastly I punched some pine branches using the Martha Stewart punch in Garden Green and Olive CS. I put 4 of these together and added a twine bow on top.
Inside I attached some Ghiradelli squares.
To keep it closed but able to get inside without tearing it I used small hook and loop dots.

Singing Reindeer

Now isn't this just the cutest little Singng Reindeer you ever did see? Thanks so much to many talented  crafters on the web.  I saw it and just had to make one too. This is the link to one of the crafters  I saw in my search. http://stampowl.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html She also has ather link on her blog that yo can see the basics of how to make a Pyramid Card.
You can also find this on Splitcoaststampers and Pininterest. It can made into a card too by adding a slit to insert the panel instead of gluing them all . That way it can be folded to mail. I made mine as a decorative element to place in my home when I get all my Christmas  decorations out.

I plan on making some more Reindeers to join the choir. Wouldn't that be cute to have a little choir?

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Wishes

I don't know about you but I am still working on gifts and cards. I am done with the exception of a few cards. So I decided I would post about one of the latest ones I made. It has non traditional colors but a very traditional design. I love to stitch and this time tried using the white Hemp instead of floss. It gives it a bolder and a bit rougher texture and look. The card comes together like this-- I started with a Barn Red card base. 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. I inked all papers with Cocoa ink. Then I took a piece of Desert Sand CS 5 1/4 x 4 and stitched approx. 1/8th from the edge. Then attach to the card front. Next I cut a piece of Cocoa CS 4 x 3. I attached that 1/2" from top and sides. Next cut a 2 3/4 x 2 3/4 square of Kraft CS. Stamp the wreath with Desert Sand and then add the berries with Barn Red. Finally add the sentiment in the center of the wreath with Barn Red. On a scrap of White Daisy CS stamp the bow with Barn Red and the Dove with Cocoa. Cut both out. Ink the edges of the bow with Barn Red. Attach the bow at the bottom of the wreath and add a Mocha Pearl to the center of the bow. Using the pleated ribbon cut a 4" piece. Take the White Hemp and wrap around the pleated ribbon a few times and end with a bow. Adhere this to the lower portion of the Cocoa CS piece. Using one of the Pin Clips, insert the Dove and then push it into the pleated ribbon. The last thing I did was add a piece of the Kraft CS to the inside and stamped a sentiment.

I can see making this with other colors and papers. If I have time I will try it with some different colors and post it.

Supplies:
Inks-Barn Red, Cocoa and Desert Sand
CS--Desert Sand, Barn Red, Kraft, White Daisy
Stamps--Remarkable Wreath, Fill in the Blank -Holiday
White Hemp( when using this pull the strands apart just like we do with floss. I used 1 strand at a time)
Pin Clips
Opaque Mocha Pearls

Thanks for stopping by.
I will have more Wonderland to come also.

I added a Countdown to Christmas

I know we haven't  even celebrated Halloween yet but I thought before Christmas sneaks up on all of us I would put this cute little Christmas Tree with a banner counting down the days to Christmas on my blog. I'm trying to do a little of my Christmas projects, cards, baking, gift making etc. starting now and as often as I can. That way I hope to be ready long before that last week before Christmas that is usually the crunch time for me. I am trying really hard this year to be ready long before that. I will try and keep you posted on how I am doing in this goal. Maybe my little Tree will help you too!!

Leave a comment here and let me know how you are doing on your Christmas projects and plans.

More Christmas Cards

I had so much fun making the Merry Elves cards that I decided to try this years kit which is these Circle Christmas cards. They are so pretty!! I enjoyed making these just as much. I can't believe how fast I can get cards made when using a kit versus by hand. I usually only make cards etc from hand but these two kits were a delight.
Now that I have a good number made I will make the rest by hand. I feel good that I have this many done already though.
If you are on my Christmas card list forget what you just saw so you are surprised when you get your card. lol

Christmas Cards

Aren't these little Elves cute?!! I just love them. I wanted to get started on my Christmas cards so I wasn't doing everything at the last minute!! Know what I mean? So I bought this card kit from CTMH. I want to tell you what a fantastic kit. Everything you need is included to make 12 cards. Even the pop dots. They went together quickly and I was very pleased.

I don't usually do kits but I fell in love with this one so decided to try it. I was not disappointed.

Stay tuned for another Christmas card kit.

What a Fun Craft Day

On Wednesday last week I got together with my friend Rita. She is the Mother-In-Law for my daughter and we are great friends. We enjoy many of the same things and we love getting together to craft. Rita is a Special Education teacher for children and is busy teaching throughout the school year. So we don't get together for our craft days until the summer break or sometimes the different breaks throughout the school year.

She had seen the frames I had made a while back and had placed on my blog and wanted to give them a try. So that was our project last week and are pictured here. I think they turned out really cute!! Rita said she really enjoyed learning how to make these and had Fun too!!! Thank you Rita for a fun day!!

I thought in case any of you were interested I would give you the directions here. These are for 1 Frame:

  1. I used Cosmo Cricket double sided paper. It is best to use the heavier weight paper such as this when making this project.
  2. Cut 4 pieces 3x4 from 3 different papers. When using 2 sided paper it is possible to use both sides needing fewer papers. All total you will need 12 pieces of 3x4 size.
  3. Cut 2 pieces of chipboard 5x5.
  4. Cut a 3x3 center out of 1 of these pieces of chipboard.
  5. Cut a 5x5 piece of your papers for the background and adhere to the other piece of chipboard.
  6. Take each of the 3x4 pieces and using a pencil or dowel roll into tubes on the long side on every piece.
  7. You will glue 3 rolls to each side around the cutout window of chipboard. It is best to use a quick drying adhesive to adhere the rolls closed and to adhere to the chipboard.
  8. To determine how tight you need to roll them fit 3 on one side of your frame first before gluing to determine if you have rolled them tight enough but not to tight. Another set of hands was especially helpful at this stage. Place the rolls even with one edge. As you go around the entire frame will get covered.
  9. We used a marker (brown) in our case and went around the inside edge of the 3x3 opening to cover the raw chipboard color.
  10. After all rolls have been glued to the frame place foam tape on the back of this piece on 3 sides leaving the top side open. Then attach to the bottom piece which has already been covered with the 5x5 sq of paper. This will allow you to place a picture in the frame.
  11. Make an embellishment of yuour choice and glue to front right bottom corner. We used initials in this example and my previous examples I placed an ornament on one and a gift package on the other.
  12. To finish take a short piece of ribbon and adhere to the back for hanging the frame.
  13. Enjoy!!!

If you have any questions I will be happy to answer and help you out.

Frames

These were a part of that Cosmos Cricket kit. You took 4x4 squares of paper and rolled them around a pencil and glued the edge. Then taking 3 per side I glued 4 groups of 3 together first. Once they were dry I then placed them on the chipboard 5x5 backing. It is a 3x3 opening in the center.
I took one of the chipboard pieces and added them to the corner. I chose to place a ribbon on the back for hanging but you could put a magnet also and place on the refrigerator. They turned out really cute I thought. I think I would give this another try in a larger size.

Cosmos Cricket Christmas Album

This was a Cosmos Cricket Recipe Christmas Album

I made this to give to my sister and her family

This is the front cover

It was made using the black board book pages and naked chipboard that had a die cut sheet with pieces to cover the chipboard. Sanding and ink distressing was done throughout the book. I used CTMH chocolate ink to distress the papers.

I made mine a little bit different in that I made a title of Memories of Christmas on the front and the little tab was left blank so she can put in the year that she fills it with.

This is the inside cover and first page. Each page has a pocket and tag in the pocket. It was designed to place a picture on the pocket and and something inside the pocket and identifying the page on the tag. I made it up so that my sister can fill in as she wants leaving her the options to make it her own. The stocking is one of the chipboard pieces covered with the die cut papers.

Here are a couple more pages. Again using the chipboard pieces to add embellishments It was a fun kit to make. I don't usually do kits.

M&M Christmas Story

I found this somewhere on the web and hadn't read this story before. So I decided to make some up and add them to my Christmas packages. Everyone enjoyed the story and touched our hearts.
I simply cut 2 scalloped circles with my Nestibilities and Cuddlebug machine.
Put a star eyelet at the top with my Crop-A-Dile and inserted a ribbon to attach to a clear treat bag filled with M & M's.

Christmas Card

This is one of the cards I made this year. I used mostly CTMH products. It is the Evensong paper, Gratitude stamp set, Olive grosgrain ribbon, cranberry stamp pad and marker. I also used Fiskars scalloped scissors, A Red Rain Dot, white pen, versamark ink pad and clear embossing powder. The flower was stamped on white CS, cut out, inked with Versamark and sprinkled with clear embossing powder. It doesn't show up very well but it gave a nice look to the flower. I then placed a red Rain Dot in the center.

Christmas Candle

I am going to be showing you some of the gifts I made for Christmas. I had to wait until now so I didn't give it away to anybody.

  • My first one is a candle that first was etched using my Fiskars squeeze circle punch for my pattern. I then used the Fiskars Stylus and traced the circle and scratched the inside of the circle. I made this circle an all over pattern on the candle. I chose a simple design but you could etch an entire Christmas Tree and glitter it right in the candle or many other possibilities.

  • Then I cut a piece of felt 3 1/2" wide and using my Fiskars decorative blades for my Rotary cutter I used the pinking blade and did both long edges. I added velcro to the end to attach around the candle. That way it can be removed.

  • Next I cut a 3" piece of ivory CS and using the Fiskars Crimper I crimped the entire strip. I glued the edges together around the candle. Not so tight that it can't be slipped off though.

  • Now using my Cricut Expression I cut an oval with the ivory CS at 3 1/4" and another in black CS at 3 3/4".

  • Stamp on the ivory piece a Christmas sentiment. I used the Peace on Earth stamp set from CTMH. Adhere to the black piece.

  • Again using the Cricut and Christmas Cheer I cut 2 sets of Holly using the blackout feature. I used the Fiskars stylus and dry embossed lines in the Holly. Next add glue and glitter on the leaves and spiral pieces. I then layered them using pop dots and attached to one side of the oval saying on the band.

  • Add 3 red bling for the Holly berries.

  • I made it this way so the band could be removed and the candle used any time during the year abd it still has a sutle design and/or the band can be put on another candle of similiar size.

Santa Candy Wrapper

I sawthis very cute idea from Dawns Stampin Studio. I have her blog listed under my blog list so check it out. She did a video on how to make these. I had to make mine a little different because I don't have Stamp Up punches which is what she used. So I did some thinking and checking around my scrapbook room on how I was going to make the beard, brim, head and hat. This is what I came up with. I cut the head from using the Fiskars circle cutter. Eyes and nose a 1/4" Fiskars hand punch. All the rest were cut using different Cricut cartridges. I used Mini Monogram, Joys of the Season and Christmas Cheer. The beard was made from a wreath, the brim from a pipe and the hat from a scalloped square. I really had to look at the designs in a different manner to come up with these. I was so happy I challenged myself and learned so much from this process. These have Hershey miniature chocolate and chocolate with almond bars inserted. They will also fit Mr Goodbar miniature bars. To put in Butterfinger and Kit Kat miniature bars some adjustment to the wrap around part will need to be made. I added glitter at the end to give him some sparkle. This would be Cute in a Holiday basket, attached to a gift etc. A Big Thank You to Dawn for doing this video.

Quilling Xmas Tag

Posted by PicasaThe Christmas Tree was made by quilling. I made my own curling tag, used Stickles on the tree and the snowflake. Distressed background and bling along the scalloped border. I had lot's of fun making this tag.
