I'm going to be.... (update)

I'm going to be a Grandma again!!!! We are so excited. So of course I had to make a card to congratulate my daughter and son-in-law. I haven't sent it yet so I hope they don't see it before it gets to them. I just couldn't wait to show you though. It is a card and diaper bag set.  I hope using the colors and sweet pea paper makes it generic enough. They are waiting until the birth of this little one to find out if it is a boy or girl. I agree that is the best way to go too. The excitement and surprise is like nothing else.
Here are a couple of pictures showing each item separately.
This is the Diaper Bag.

Here's the card. It is supposed to be a Onsie. What do you think?  This was done using my Cricut Expressions Machine and a Design file I found on Custom Crops. It is so much fun putting designs together from different cartridges. Someday I hope to be able to do just that. For now I am grateful there are so many talented people out there that like to share their files. Three cartridges were used to make this. New Arrival, George and Storybook.

Here is another version making it a bit more generic when the sex is not known.

This card was made without the Cricut  using a 1 3/8th punch and a 2" scallop punch.  Start with  a card cut at 11 x 4 1/4. Score at shoulders which is 5 1/2.
Punch using the 1 3/8" punch a neck by going halfway in. (sorry the punch is upside down)

Place the card in at the halfway point for the neck and for the legs place it as shown in the picture.

Make your sleeves by placing the fold at 1 3/4 and cut in 1/2" on both sides. Then draw a diagonal line from the top of the leg to the sleeve cut.

Make the scallop trim by first punching in halfway with the 1 3/8" in the color of your choice. Then take the scallop punch and center around your half circle. Do this 3 times.

Cut a 1/4" x 1 3/4" strip for the sleeve trim. Score the bottom on the back side at 1/2" on the front. Put in 3 button brads in this scored section for the snaps.
I ran my front of the card through the Cuttlebug and the Dotted Swiss embossing folder. (I LOVE that Dotted Swiss folder.) I've seen these made in all different colors and they are cute as can be. I even saw a Hawaiian shower theme where the Moondoggie paper from CTMH was used to make these. Very CUTE!!!
Give it a try next time you need a baby shower or card .

my Granddaughter's Baby Album is Finished!!

These are the last pages to the baby album I made for my granddughter. I made an album of her First year of life. This is the pages for 12 months and the last page being her 1st Birthday.
If you want to see the rest of the album look in the archives. All of the pages have been posted on my blog. She is such a sweetheart. She is definitely a joy.
I made her Birthday dress she is wearing. That is just the beginning of dresses I will be sewing for her. My daughter made the birthday cake. It was the cutest cake!! She did such a good job on the cake and the whole day. The middle picture is my daughter with my Granddaughter.

2 weeks old

I had these pictures and just couldn't leave them out so I made these and put them in place in the album. She is 2 weeks old here. On the left is mommy and daughter with their hands. On the right hand side is a picture of her looking directly at Daddy. So I made a Mommy & Me page and a Daddy & Me page. They are very simply done but I thought this simple design was perfect for these photos.

10 Months

Here she is looking out at her doggy. They are great pals. On the other page she is sitting in her favorite chair. Doesn;t she look so happy?! With the completion of these pages I am now caught up. Yeah I did it!! Now I am working on the cover of the album and preparing the 11 month pages and the ending page of her first birthday.

9 Months

She isn't walking yet but she is pulling herself up all the time to stand. I am in a wheelchair and have a walker and so does her Grandpa on her Daddy's side. So she has become familiar with wheelchairs and walkers already.

8 Months

I am moving right along. Here is 8 months. This has been such a fun project to be working on.

7 Months

Another month done. I am really on a roll now. I am feeling more like I am going to make it opn time.

6 Months

I love this picture of her when she discovered her feet. She also is shown here discovering animal crackers. I couldn't resisit using these photos.

5 Months

When I amde my daughters and her husbands books they both had a picture in the Johnny Jump up at age 5 months. So my daughter took this same picture for this album. Also she had music surrounding her before she was born and it continues since. She is really relaxed laying there while Daddy practices his guitar.

4 Months

I am moving right along. I have a few to post tonight. I am continuing with the Sharon Ann Baby line and adding misc embellishments and using different paper techniques.

3 Months

Here is another 2 page layout. This is 3 months of age. I used my Cuddlebug with the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the green paper. Then I took CTMH Hollyhock ink and rubbed over the dots. It left a really interesting effect. I have a combination of embellishments along with the Sharon Ann paper that I am using throughout this album.

2 Months

Here is the layouts for 2 months age. As I stated earlier I am going to do the journaling all at the same time but am making a place for it on each 2 page spread I am making. Most of these embellishments are from the Sharon Ann Kit that I am using throughout this album.

1 Month Layouts

Here is the start of the month layouts. This is for 1 month of age. I fell in love with her in this little dress. I had to use that as one of the pictures.

Newborn

This set of pages has a shaker box filled with little hands and feet. The clothesline of girl clothing that has been paper pieced. I had a picture of her little feet and a metal engraved strip that says "little toes" and had to put
them together on the second page of this layout.
Now the pages from here on will be 2 page layouts begining with 1 month of age.
Stay tuned for more to come.

Welcome Home Layouts

This is layouts of ger being brought to her home and having a special time with Mom. I love this picture of my daughter holding her daughter. It tugs at my heart. I quilled the stork arriving at the house and did some stamping.

A Note: the journaling areas have been placed on each layout but haven't been filled in yet. I thought I would do that all at one time. I have her weight and height for each month of her life so that will be included as well.

The new Family

This is her first day home with her very proud parents.

Day of Birth

These 2 pages are of the day she was born. Isn't she precious?!

The Proud parents

I am working on an 8x8 album showing the birth of my Grandaughter. This is the cover page introducing her with the day of her birth. The beginning pages will be of her day of birth and and first couple weeks of her life. Then there will be a 2 page layout for each month of her life. It will end with her 1 year Birthday Party.

I had made one of these albums for her Mom. When my daughter married her Mother in Law asked if I would make an album for her son identical to my daughters other than it being the boy line of paper of course. So I used the Sharon Ann Baby line for my daughters album and my son in laws album. Then when they had their first child I thought how fun it would be to make their daughter an album to just like Mommy and Daddy. I purchased this years Sharon Ann Baby collection and got started on her album. Now of course my intentions were good at the start. I was going to do a page each month finishing on her birthday. Well time got away from me and now she will be 1 year at the end of next month!!! YIKES!! So I thought if I made a committment on this blog to post as I got them done that I would work on it in a timely manner and actually have it completed in time.

I will post the pages I have done so far and then hope to post another 2 page layout every couple of days.

Products used for this page are Sharon Ann papers, CTMH paper flower, CTMH metal embellishments, CTMH Hollyhock twill ribbon and a poem about daughters that I had used on a project of my daughters from Junior High School.

I will be posting a few more pages today and then hopefully each day or two you will see the progress of each months pages getting completed.
