Wedding Gifts

I can't believe it is June already!!! Where does the time go? lol I have been busy crafting a wedding gift for a close friend who was just  married on May 31 2014. She is also a crafter and I wanted their gift to be one that would last for a long time and be able to be displayed in their new home serving as a remembrance of their wonderful day. I had to wait to post this so it would remain a surprise.

I thought  a lot about it and went back and forth on papers and designs. In the end I chose an older CTMH paper pack I had that I thought would be perfect for weddings which is called "Bliss". It has a combination of beautiful browns, vanilla, light grey and soft green in the prints.   I thought it would be perfect for what I had in mind.

I used a combination of different svg files that  I bought  from www.svgcuts.com.  My Cricut Explore is the machine I used to make all the cuts. Also because the Explore can cut, score and write (isn't that amazing?)I  added some text to one of the projects. That is such a fun to do to make your project even more unique and special. So here are my projects.

Project #1 Frame
As I said the paper is called "Bliss". Isn't the pattern rich and soft looking? I added chocolate CS that went nicely with the B&T paper. I love the detail of the flourish type cut that were panels added to the frame. It has a hole in the back for hanging. I don't know if you can see it in the picture but the frame is not flat. The center is inverted. That also adds to the design making it a bit different. They just have to add one of their special wedding  photos  to the center and they are all set.

Project #2 "And they lived happily ever after"
This is a 3D Ampersand sign. For my quote  I used the sign itself for my "and" and then typed "they lived happily ever after.
I used another one of the B&T papers from Bliss. It is a very soft and subtle pattern. This is the same paper  I used to cut the intricate detail that is on the frame above.  I added the text going down the front . It may be hard to see in the picture but if you click on the picture to enlarge it you should be able to see it much better. To give it some bling  I added a pearl strand all around the front edge using Liquid Glass to adhere it. Then I took my Bow Easy tool  and made a double bow with a sheer cream ribbon. I completed it with a heart charm that has a intricate deign etched in the charm. I thought it was perfect with the theme I was trying to put together. It is very sturdy and stands nicely all on it's own.

Project #3 Tall pail of Roses

Now what wedding doesn't have flowers? As beautiful as the wedding bouquet is unfortunately it doesn't last long term. So to act as a remembrance of the flowers I made this tall pail type vase with a dozen vanilla CS roses. By rolling the edges of the petals and the way the pieces are cut you get very realistic looking roses, I think anyway. They may not be the actual bouquet but it still gives the feeling of flowers from the wedding day  I used  Chocolate CS for the main part of the vase and added some more of the B&T papers as accents. The roses were made from Vanilla CS, 3/16 " dowels, floral tape and leaves cut from Olive CS. I painted the dowels a dark green first. Then I made the roses which are inserted into the dowel. Once the rose is attached to the dowel then I started to wrap the dowel with the floral tape and insert the leaves as I went down the stem. They stood in the vase well but to be extra safe I put some floral foam in the base of the vase and put the flower stems into the foam. I attached the handles with large brads. Finished it with another strand of pearls going around the vase on the top and bottom edges of the wider accent strip.

Finally here is a picture of all three grouped together.
What do you think? Do you think it is a gift the new couple will enjoy?
I sure had fun making this grouping with them in mind.
