“Wings” Layouts

 

 

In these two layouts I used the paper called Wings and the layout designs from the How-To book called Magic. I used the Wings Level 2 paper pack. The Inks are Black, New England Ivy and Vineyard Berry.  The techniques used were edge distressing with a CTMH Edge Distresser or using your scissors. This was done around the base pages and some of the black checked B&T papers.  The stamp set titled  Dreams Come True was used to  make the flower embellishments.  For the butterflies and the title “Smile” the stamp set titled “ Take a Picture” was used. To complete the layout I used the Black Mini Medley. I used many of the items included in that collection including the black brads , black button brads, corduroy brads  and the striped ribbon.  The  Wings Level 2 Assortment was also used for the Juniper pleated ribbon.

This layout has an interactive element on the second page. The black checked tag looking element has a journaling tag that pulls out from the top by pulling the flower above the ribbon which is what the tag is attached to.  This is just one example of the many interactive layouts you can make from using the  Magic book .

I have some more layouts and some other items I made using the Wings paper.  I will post these in the days ahead.

Valentine Candy Matchbook---UPDATED

Here is a little Valentine Project you can make for either your Sweetie of for the kids too. Just by changing your papers and what candy you fill it with makes it a quick project for who ever you want to give it to.

I made the Matchbook on my Gypsy. This is my first attempt at making and saving a file that I have made to share and be able to cut using the Gypsy. I am going to attempt to offer it in this post but am not sure it will let me.

Okay I think this link will take you to my file where you can then download it. Like I mentioned it is very simple and basic but I had to start somewhere right? When you open the file it looks like there is another rectangle inside the larger one but that isn;t anything that will cut. It was part of my designing but not used in the end project.

I believe I used George. It is a rectangle that will cut at 3.25 x 6.5 with a 2" heart cut out of the front end.I used a double sided cardstock. A heavier paper works the best .  You will make a score line  from the heart end at 2 7/8 and at the other end 3/8. I used a 3x5 clear bag and cut it off  to measure 4". Fill it with the candy of your choice until it measures 2 1/4. Then fold the top down once about 1/4" and again at the 2 1/4" level of your candy and adhere. Place a strip of red line or scor tape on the inside of your rectangle where the candy is going to set. Place another one on the right side of the paper along the 3/8" score line. Fold all of your score lines. The front will adhere along that 3/8" flap. Adhere your candy bag making sure none of the bag sticks out beyond the paper. Bring the front down to meet the back side along the 3/8" flap. As you see in my pictures the back will bow out after it is all put together.

A Cricut Valentine

Hello Kitty Valentine

I wanted to try making a card with my Hello Kitty cartridge for my Granddaughter's Valentine.  I wanted to make it as big as I could so she would have a nice big Valentine. So I started with the card feature and black cardstock using the “Fit to Page”  feature. It cut at 7”.  I then proceeded to cut all the layers using 7” for the size. I first cut her as she is on the keypad in black again to place on the front of the card. I did this because when the card is folded you lose the whiskers on the left side due to the fold. By cutting a single view of her you get the whiskers on both sides of her face. After cutting that piece and adhering it onto the card front I proceeded with the layers. So to cut the face, hands and feet I put white cardstock down and cut. Then the heart was cut with a deep pink CS . The last layer was the bow and nose which was cut with a pale pink CS.  I added all the layers to the front .  I used the stamp set called “Say it in Style” to stamp “Happy Valentine’s Day on the heart she is holding. To finish off the front I used my white opaque pen and did some Faux Stitching all around each section of her. I forgot to take a picture of the inside but because it was a black base I needed something to be able to write on. So I cut another full card only in white this time and at 6 3/4” and adhered it to the inside of the card.

I was really happy how it turned out. I will be trying other cuts from this very CUTE cartridge. I plan on using my Gypsy the next time to have a little more flexibility in my cuts and putting it together on the mat.

Olivia cards

This   is a card using the Olivia Level 2 paper pack.  A few different techniques were done in making this card and 2 others that I will  post here as well.
I used the edge distresser to distress all the papers except the colonial white piece.  On that piece  I used the sandpaper stipple technique. It is done by  tearing a small square of coarse sandpaper and press it into the ink pad. Then, dab the inked sandpaper onto the edge of the paper. It gives you a really subtle inked edge.
The  cocoa inked leaf used another technique using sandpaper. This time I inked the leaf and then  sanded  just the center of the stamped image. You do this by  tearing a small piece of medium grit sandpaper and rub the sandpaper over the area you want to highlight, in a circular motion. Repeat in the same area with fine grit sandpaper. The result gives you a highlighted area to the image.
The stamp set is called Timeless for the sentiment and flourish. To finish it off  I used two Shimmering glitter brads in silver.

Here is another Olivia card.  All the same techniques that were used in the previous card were done in this card. One exception is that this  time an image was stamped, a leaf. Then an area of this stamp was sanded to an area of white and one additional step was done. I stamped a word in that highlighted area resulting in a stamp on top of another stamp. Again a large Shimmer Silver glitter brad was used to complete the card.
My last Olivia card combines  the sanding on top of the leaf and sanding an area of the cardstock where the sentiment was going to go. I love the effect you get with this technique.

3 Cards featuring the Olivia papers

I used the beautiful ink colors of Cocoa and Smoothie along with the Olivia paper pack. They are rich in color and especially nice for Fall pictures. The shimmer brads were used for a perfect accent. I used a Technique called Stipple Sandpaper and another one where you sand after stamping and then stamp another image in that space or just sand to give it a highlighted area. With the papers having a white core you get a beautiful highlight. The technique I mentioned first called Stipple Sandpaper is done like this. You take a small piece of course sandpaper. Wrap it around your finger and dab it into a ink pad. Then dab the edge of your paper. In my cards I did this technique on each of the colonial white card stock pieces. It gives a subtle dotted look. Christmas Project # 15

I have my last project before Christmas to show you now. CTMH has a product called Dimensional Elements Ornaments. They are a white chipboard in 6 different ornament designs. You can decorate them using a number of products. They take inks, and chalk very well. You can cover with papers too. I also used the Prism Glitter and embossing powder  to add to  some of them too . They are a lot of fun and with all the stamps, papers, ink colors, chalk colors and glitter you could make them in so many ways. Here are my set of 6. I am going to get these again and decorate in another 6 ways. They are fun to make and use as ornaments on the tree and/or add to a gift as an added gift to the recipient. I hope you enjoy them.

Just a Note

I have one more Christmas project to show you. I was going to post it tonight. But when I checked my pictures I wasn't satisfied with how I took them. So I will come back tomorrow and get the posted for you. They are the Dimensional Elements Ornaments. They were fun to make and I can't wait to show you. So check back tomorrow. Christmas Project #14

Today I have two of the same card with just a few changes with papers and sentiment. This card again uses the Mistletoe paper line. The main stamp set used is the Adorn-ables stamp set. The sentiments came from two different ones. One was the December Word Puzzle and the other was a misc. set I own. Added to the stamped branch are punched fern sprigs from a Martha Stewart punch and punched circles that were run through a Xyron and then glitter was added. This card is a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 .I still have a few more cards and projects to post so come back in the following days to see what else I have. Thanks for stopping by. I would love some comments too.

Christmas Project # 13

Christmas cards are one of my favorite things to make and send for the Christmas Season. Here is one of my favorites. I love the look of it and the message it carries. I used the Mistletoe papers. This is yet another beautiful paper from that line. I also used the stamp sets Everlasting Life for the "Peace On Earth" and Adorn-ables for the Ornament. The cranberry card stock at the top of the card was dry embossed and sanded. The ornament was decorated with mini pearls and an organdy white daisy bow. Using the organdy ribbon not only gives an elegant look but flattens nicely for mailing and still looks good when the card is opened by the recipient. The card size is again the standard
4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I hope you enjoy this one.

Christmas Project #12

Today I have another standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card that is very quick and easy to make but gives a look of elegance. The B&T paper is from Mistletoe Level 2 and the Creative basics Mistletoe pack. The Apron Lace border punch is used on one edge of the New England Ivy  B&T paper. Add the sentiment on the lower portion of the card with " Holiday Commentary". At the top some ribbon and a button was added along with a few sprigs of fern from a Martha Stewart punch. Add a little red gem at the tail of the word Christmas and the card is complete.

Christmas Project # 11

I have some more cards for you. I am trying to keep them flat for mailing purposes this year. Not as easy task to do when I love all the bling etc. But with glitter and embossing I hope you like how they turned out. Some of them were cased from other talented crafters and some are my own and some are a combination of the two.
I post a couple today and the next few days I will get them all posted for you.

Both of these cards used the Mistletoe Level 2 paper. I made the letter "O" by stamping from the All the Best stamp set. This is a really nice stamp set that comes in the Mistletoe Workshop Kit. I stamped the round ornament and added Prism Glitter to the swirl design. I added waxy flax for the hanger. A scalloped border punch and some sheer ribbon to finish it off. The sheer ribbon flattens easier for mailing and still looks good when opened. I used some misc. sticker alphabets letters to finish the words. The colors are Olive, Garden Green, Cranberry, and White Daisy. I added Red glitter to the cranberry dots on the B&T paper to accent them a bit more. Very simple cards but they don't really look simple. Enjoy!! Come back tomorrow for a couple more cards.

Christmas Project 10

Today I have a cute little 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 card. It can be used as a gift tag or gift enclosure. I used the following CTMH products.

I then colored him  in with markers and the waterbrush. There are 4 little Elves in this stamp set. Besides this little one struggling with the strand of lights there is one holding a package, making a snowman and skating. I have all of them in the works so I will be back to show you those once they're done.
