Easter Projects

These are little candy holders made using my Cricut Expressions machine. The bunny file came from Diane at http://capadiadesigns.blogspot.com/ She is anabsolute whiz with the Design Studio. Be sure and stop by her blog. You won't want to miss seeing all of her projects.
The Chick was from Jen over at Brain Things.
I used the cut files from these talented ladies to cut them out but then put my own style of embellishments etc. on. Check out both of these ladies blogs. They are very talented with loads of inspiration to be found.
The stuffed Bunny and Chick I bought at JoAnns. They are so soft and just the right size for my Granddaughter to walk around with and have when she is in her car seat etc. I hope she likes both the paper versions I made and the stuffed ones. She is to young yet for the candy etc. so I went with these and some really cute hair clips with bunnies on them. They are in the 3rd picture . Remember you can always click on a picture to see it larger.

Now I need to get some Easter cards made.

I was surprised with a package in the mail today. The picture shows what some wonderful Fiskateer sent me. Now she didn't say who she is so I am on a mission of trying to figure it out. Until I do if you are reading this I was very surprised and thrilled!! You really made my day and put a HUGE smile on my face. It warms my heart to have someone do this very unexpected from the heart gesture. Thank you so very much!!! The thought itself means more to me than I can express.

One of the blogs I visit had posted a request for cards for a friend who is terminally ill from a rare formm of Cancer. This woman was an avid scrapbooker and cardmaker. They are sending her cards to cheer her up and put a smile on her face. So I decided to make a colorful card for her. I used primarily CTMH products.

  • Delight in Everything Stamp
  • Friendships Blessings Stamp
  • Be True Stamp
  • C.S. in Lilac Mist, Buttercup, Key Lime, Colonisal White and Blush.
  • Desert Sand and Blush inks.
  • Spring button collection.
  • Blender pen
  • Machine stitching.

This is the link for the post if you would like to check it out.

While you're there take a look around. She has beautiful work posted. I also have her blog in my listing. Thanks for stopping by.

Wedding Card

I thought I had better get the Wedding Card made now that the Wedding date is right around the corner. So this is what I put together having given her the silhouette paper in her shower card I thought I may as welll coordinate. I used the following CTMH products, Silhouette papers, Sans small lowercase alphabet, Blush ribbon, Curly Sentiments stamp set for the quote inside the card , and White Daisy buttons from the Holiday button collection. The DMC floss that matches the Blush color is #3354 and that was what I stitched with.

Bridal Shower Card

Free Standing Pop Up Card Card with decorated envelope

I went to a Bridal Shower this weekend. It was for my daughter's husbands brother's fiancee. Now how is that for a mouth full!! Anyway I wanted to make a special and different style card for her. She is going to start into Scrapbooking and card making. So I picked this Free Standing Pop Up card style. I used CTMH silhouette papers, CTMH Stamp set Joy Forever , CTMH paper flowers, CTMH Blush polka dot ribbon and misc supplies. This is a fun card to make and it folds flat to fit in a A2 envelope. It could be made for any theme. Hope you like it.

Good Luck everyone!!!

My Demo Project

This is the card we made on the Fiskars Demo I held at my LSS last week. We used two of the Spring Limited Edition Punches. For some fun I had them tell me where the Cracked Egg punch was used. Some found it right away and others took a while to find it. I was teaching how you can use a punch for something entirely different than what it is originally designed for. So that is why I did that little test. I wanted them to see beyond the actual design of the punches. It was a great day. We had a lot of fun. I had some "regulars" and some "new" people. I so much like to spread the Fiskars Love and teach how to work the different tools.

Next month I am doing another card using 2 of the Spring Limited Edition Punches. I will be using the Chicky Baby and the Cracked egg. I can't wait to do this one too.

Big Day tomorrow

I am going to be giving a Fiskars Demo/ Make-n-Take tomorrow at my LSS.

It will be held at Pages in Progress. You can check there blog out by finding them in my blog list on the left side panel of my blog. They are a fun store with wonderful owners. They offer a lot of classes too. There has been so much new merchandise arriving daily that they can't unbox it all fast enough. I'm sure you will like the store as much as I do.

I am looking forward to having a good time at the Demo. I love to teach about the Fiskars tools and spread the Fiskateer love. If you are in the Tucson area please stop by. I would love to meet you and have fun doing the project I am presenting. We will be making a card using one of the Limited Edition Spring Squeeze punches. We will do a little stamping using the Stamp Press also.

On April 8Th I will be here again and we will do an Raster card with some more of the Limited Edition Spring Squeeze Punches. Make a note of that as well.

Fiskars Oval Border Punch

For my Fiskars Friday post I am going to talk about the Oval Border Punches. I know they aren't new but it is a new tool for me.

I have started to play with my Fiskars Oval Border Punch. It comes with templates like the Circle Border Punches do. These are called a Thick and Thin Oval. One side of the punch you cut the Thick size Oval and the other side the Thin. I am showing in the picture the punch itself and both templates with each one cut out of paper. I drew in the lines all the way across and top to bottom so you could see easier. You need to have the marks to be able to line up the side mark with the mark on the punch. It takes 3 punches for each side. I was able to complete the Thick oval without to much trouble. But when I went to do the Thin side I couldn't line it up right. I think it has something to do with working from the left side. I need to give it some more tries.
Has anyone else punched with one of these Oval punches? If so if you have any hints please add a comment to this post. I will be back with more after some more practice. These are completed Thick and Thin Ovals using the Roses are Red Oval Border Punch. A fellow friend and Fiskateer, Sandi # 4159 and I worked for a few hours on just how to punch these out so they were still an oval when we got done and just what the steps were to accomplish this task. This is what we came up. Thank you Sandi for brain storming with me. If anyone else has another way or any other suggestions please comment here.
To Make The Thin Oval:
  • Step 1 Put the point of the oval into the punch with the Right side aligned with the tick mark on the paper matching the mark on the punch. The Left side of the paper is aligned with the ridge titled Thin Oval Alignment. This is below the area with the design printed.
  • Step 2: Turn the paper to the Left and match up the design and punch.
  • Step 3: Turn the paper 1 more time aligning the design up and punch for the 3rd time. You now should have 1/2 of your oval punched.
  • Step 4: Repeat steps 1,2, and 3 above just reversing and going the opposite direction.
  • Note: If you want the designs to match up exactly before you do the second half of the oval you would have to turn th epaper over. The only thing with this is that that half of the design will the back side of the punch. It looks like a rougher edge. If you were to sand it down a little you couldn't use white core paper as that would show when you sanded.
I hope this makes sense to you. This punch in my opinion is not near as easy as the circle Border punches are. One other thing that makes the Oval not as easy or smooth to do is that you have to hand trace and hand cut with a template. The shape of the oval is not the same as the Oval cutter by Fiskars nor any other cutting system I have checked.
If you have a tool that you would like me to feature leave a comment here and I will do it if I can .

LOL Anyway I wanted to post this to show you all what can be done with the Cricut and the design studio. Thanks again Cindy for sharing this file.
