Fiskars Friday January 16th
My entry today is a bit different from previous weeks. But I wanted to bring this up again and show you what I made to contribute. It isn't much but in my heart I wanted so much to do something. What I am referring to is the blog that one of the Lead Fiskateers ,Chery, posted back on Dec 13th. You can find it here http://www.fiskateers.com/blog/2008/12/13/christmas-a-time-for-giving-help-meet-an-urgent-need/. So I chose the Baby Girl category being I have a number of items for this and went on to make these 2 pages. They are ready for her to put the pictures and journaling on. I left quite a bit a space for journaling as that is such an important part. I don't know if they are still needing help but you can contact Cheryl from the link in this post if you are interested.

Fiskars Friday Jan 9th 2009
- Always orient your blade by running it along your self healing mat to get it to swivel in the direction you want to go.
- When placing your template down onto the paper to have the correct side you should be able to read the word Fiskars on the template.
- Take detailed edges and designs slowly to avoid any jumping or skipping of the USX tool.
- Don't press down hard on the tool. Let the blade do the work. Just have a firm even pressure as you glide around the deign.
- When doing the border designs on the templates to prevent rocking of the template and tipping of the USX, not staying level as you are going around try this little trick. Take another template of the same thickness. Place it next to the template you are going to be using leaving enough room for the USX to be able to move in between them. But you also do want it close enough so that one edge of the USX is riding on one template and the other edge on the one you are cutting. This will balance out the USX and give you a nice even smooth cutting maneuvers. I have found this tip to work really nice and is very helpful.
- Give the USX a try. It is a great little tool!!!
- This picture shows how to use 2 templates in order to level out your USX. Especially helpful in doing the borders but any shape close to the edge this will work for. Give it a try!.

Another Outfit for my Granddaughter
What's the Word, Bird?
This should prevent having those lost password moments. I made these for some of my friends and need to get one made for myself now.
I got this design and project from Vickie over at http://angelstamper2.blogspot.com/
She does beautiful work and has a fun blog to check out. Go over and see what I mean.
Frames
These were a part of that Cosmos Cricket kit. You took 4x4 squares of paper and rolled them around a pencil and glued the edge. Then taking 3 per side I glued 4 groups of 3 together first. Once they were dry I then placed them on the chipboard 5x5 backing. It is a 3x3 opening in the center.
I took one of the chipboard pieces and added them to the corner. I chose to place a ribbon on the back for hanging but you could put a magnet also and place on the refrigerator. They turned out really cute I thought. I think I would give this another try in a larger size.
Cosmos Cricket Christmas Album
I made this to give to my sister and her family
This is the front cover
I made mine a little bit different in that I made a title of Memories of Christmas on the front and the little tab was left blank so she can put in the year that she fills it with.
Here are a couple more pages. Again using the chipboard pieces to add embellishments It was a fun kit to make. I don't usually do kits.
M&M Christmas Story
I simply cut 2 scalloped circles with my Nestibilities and Cuddlebug machine.
Put a star eyelet at the top with my Crop-A-Dile and inserted a ribbon to attach to a clear treat bag filled with M & M's.
Snowman Candy Wrapper/Gift Tag
This is similar to the Santa Candy Wrappers I showed a while ago. They hold the snack size Hershey candy bars. I used Fiskars 1/4" hand circle punch for the eyes and mouth in black CS. The nose was a triangle cut from orange CS. The hat was a 1 1/4" square for the hat and a 3/8" x2" black CS strip for the brim. Take a white pen and draw lines around the brim. I punched a flower in red and put white dots in each petal. I punched a 1/16th hole in the center of the flower and hung a tag that I have written who the gift is for here.
Lastly insert your candy bar. Kinda cute aren't they?
Christmas Card
This is one of the cards I made this year. I used mostly CTMH products. It is the Evensong paper, Gratitude stamp set, Olive grosgrain ribbon, cranberry stamp pad and marker. I also used Fiskars scalloped scissors, A Red Rain Dot, white pen, versamark ink pad and clear embossing powder. The flower was stamped on white CS, cut out, inked with Versamark and sprinkled with clear embossing powder. It doesn't show up very well but it gave a nice look to the flower. I then placed a red Rain Dot in the center.
Christmas Candle
- My first one is a candle that first was etched using my Fiskars squeeze circle punch for my pattern. I then used the Fiskars Stylus and traced the circle and scratched the inside of the circle. I made this circle an all over pattern on the candle. I chose a simple design but you could etch an entire Christmas Tree and glitter it right in the candle or many other possibilities.
- Then I cut a piece of felt 3 1/2" wide and using my Fiskars decorative blades for my Rotary cutter I used the pinking blade and did both long edges. I added velcro to the end to attach around the candle. That way it can be removed.
- Next I cut a 3" piece of ivory CS and using the Fiskars Crimper I crimped the entire strip. I glued the edges together around the candle. Not so tight that it can't be slipped off though.
- Now using my Cricut Expression I cut an oval with the ivory CS at 3 1/4" and another in black CS at 3 3/4".
- Stamp on the ivory piece a Christmas sentiment. I used the Peace on Earth stamp set from CTMH. Adhere to the black piece.
- Again using the Cricut and Christmas Cheer I cut 2 sets of Holly using the blackout feature. I used the Fiskars stylus and dry embossed lines in the Holly. Next add glue and glitter on the leaves and spiral pieces. I then layered them using pop dots and attached to one side of the oval saying on the band.
- Add 3 red bling for the Holly berries.
- I made it this way so the band could be removed and the candle used any time during the year abd it still has a sutle design and/or the band can be put on another candle of similiar size.
Happy New Year!!!
